Here at the Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology, collaboration is at the core of everything we do and we work in partnership with employers across the whole region.
When working with us, employers have the power to shape the minds of the future by contributing to course development, ensuring our students receive training aligned with their specific needs.
By doing this, we support the economic growth of the Yorkshire and Humber region by ensuring local businesses have access to a pipeline of talented workers with exactly the skills they require.
We work directly with three employers in the region - VISR Dynamics, The Edge Hub Limited and Esh Group - so we thought we’d tell you a bit more about them and what they do.
VISR Dynamics
VISR Dynamics, based in the North of England, is a leader in immersive technology, driving innovation in the education sector with its Stage platform. Stage combines extended reality (XR) and artificial intelligence (AI) to create interactive, narrative-driven learning experiences that harness the engagement of gaming to transform education.
Stage is a cutting-edge platform that immerses users in virtual environments where they can engage with realistic avatars, collaborate with peers and explore interactive learning scenarios. By gamifying the learning experience, Stage enhances user engagement and retention, making education more interactive, dynamic and most importantly, fun.
In partnership with educational institutions, including some of our education partners, VISR Dynamics is reshaping how learning takes place, providing students with the ability to connect, collaborate and learn in the same virtual space - no matter where they are located. Through AI integration, Stage offers tailored experiences that adapt to individual learning styles, further enhancing the effectiveness of the platform.
The Edge Hub Limited
The Edge Hub is an innovative digital training and up-skilling technology hub based in Hull.
It aims to lead the change in how technology is understood, creating an inclusive and diverse environment which revolutionises access to training across the region.
The Edge Hub’s work is totally aligned with our work here at the Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology - it offers advanced courses unavailable in the current climate to raise the bottom line and meet the need for immediate, relevant and high-quality training, allowing people to develop their careers in technology.
There are over 20,000 courses available at various levels, which cover everything you need to work in a range of tech roles. Its training is designed to explore the essential parts of the tech and business industry, from Software Development to Project Management.
It also provides bespoke software engineering and digital innovation services through its technology team. Working with its members, customers and partners, it delivers client-centric, value-add solutions to help businesses excel.
Esh Group
Esh Group is one of the North of England’s largest privately-owned construction businesses, operating throughout the North East, the Tees Valley, Yorkshire and the Humber. It provides commercial build, civil engineering, affordable and private housing services to the private and public sector.
Esh Group’s values align closely with ours, as the business is committed to training up the next generation of construction professionals. It offers a number of apprenticeship opportunities for people starting their careers, ranging from level 2 through to Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and degree courses.
Currently, 8% of the business’ workforce are apprentices and last year Esh was awarded gold accredited membership of The 5% Club’s esteemed Employer Audit Scheme.
By working in partnership with these employers, we can ensure that we are providing a strong STEM skills foundation to support business growth and meet the aspiration for the region to be leading technological advancement.
