Founded in 2019, the Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology (YHIoT) is a partnership between nine educational institutions across the region.
We thrive on collaboration and, alongside our education partners, we create cutting-edge learning environments and top-notch technical facilities. By working together, we not only develop essential skills in the region, but also inspire and motivate the workforce of the future.
We thought we’d tell you a bit more about the colleges and universities that are part of our IoT and what they have to offer.
York College & University Centre
York College & University Centre is the largest further education college in the region and offers a wide choice of courses, which are taught in state-of-the-art facilities.
From its campus in York, it offers A-Levels, T-Levels, apprenticeships and vocational programmes, from Level 1 to degree level.

Selby College
Selby College is a highly rated college in the heart of North Yorkshire, providing education and training opportunities for students aged 16 to 70+.
Students are able to earn qualifications including A-Levels, T-Levels, vocational courses, apprenticeships, higher education, adult learning and professional courses for employers.
For those wanting to study an IoT course, the college offers things such as:
T-Level in Digital Support Services

Askham Bryan College
Askham Bryan College is one of the top specialist land based colleges in the UK, which develops talent to respond to current and future challenges for the economy and environment.
As part of its IoT offering, the college has opened a £1.7 million precision livestock facility which includes a precision calf rearing facility and beef grower unit. It also has a dedicated teaching and learning space for delivering courses on sustainable and high welfare farming practices.
Located on the outskirts of York, the facility allows students to access real-time data and enhanced, flexible, hands-on research opportunities.
Bishop Burton College
As part of its involvement with the IoT, Bishop Burton College provides its students with access to cutting-edge agricultural technologies.
It has a focus on crops and animals, so its agriculture, animal sciences, equine and environmental conservation students all benefit from exploring things such as:
Transforming food production and reducing emissions
Animal welfare within farming practice
The environmental impact of land use
Environmental issues within conservation and land management
Located near Beverley, the college’s Centre for Precision Agriculture enables students to achieve high level technical qualifications, focusing on precision farming to transform food production and reduce emissions, pollution, waste and soil erosion.
Craven College
Craven College uses its state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to deliver advanced technical training, enhance students’ career prospects and ensure students graduate as highly skilled professionals.
Spread across its Skipton and Leeds Bradford Airport campuses, its IoT provision has close links with industry experts, which allows students to develop cutting-edge skills and knowledge needed for the 21st century.

East Riding College
East Riding College’s IoT stands at the forefront of meeting the demand for local and national skills in the engineering, construction and digital industries.
It offers its students a cutting-edge learning environment which includes a state-of-the-art engineering workshop (including CNC Machinery), CAD suites and laboratory facilities.
The equipment available ensures that students have access to the best and most up-to-date machinery, digital practices and teaching methods, leading to enhanced employment opportunities.
East Riding College has campuses in Beverley, Bridlington and Hull.
Scarborough TEC
Scarborough TEC delivers study programmes that are directly related to current and future labour market needs, supporting the region’s vocational and skills requirements.
It has dedicated facilities for the teaching of construction, engineering, computing, games design, media and much more.
As part of its IoT offering, the college provides its students with access to an IT gaming studio, digital arts lab, cyber IT lab and a multi-use IT facility.
University of Hull
The University of Hull is one of the anchor higher education partners of the YHIoT and takes a leading role in our applied research elements.
The University offers digital and technological equipment which support artificial intelligence and virtual reality activities, and key research opportunities include robotics, agricultural technology and the use of data.
York St John University
York St John University contributes higher education expertise to the YHIoT and alongside the University of Hull.
Its IoT work aims to improve the level of skills, increase productivity and make a real difference to the success of the Yorkshire & Humber region.
