We understand that some students have a requirement to earn money alongside their studies - whether this is because they have bills to pay, a family to support or are looking for more independence.

One of our key objectives is to ensure that our courses are accessible for all, no matter what your circumstances, so we offer a number of apprenticeship courses to help you earn while you learn.
What are the benefits of apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships are paid jobs that combine on-the-job training with classroom based learning - it’s usually around an 80/20 split in favour of on-the-job training.

Studying an apprenticeship can help to bridge the gap between education and joining the workforce, offering an alternative pathway for people to build rewarding careers at the same time as meeting the needs of industries and economies.

Not only do apprenticeships allow you to earn money whilst studying, they also give you the opportunity to have a more ‘hands-on’ approach to learning. This is because you’ll spend most of your time in a business setting, learning through practical training. As a result, you’ll be learning and practising exactly the skills you’ll need to succeed in your chosen career, giving you valuable work experience.

What’s more, because you’ll be spending so much time in a business setting, you’ll also meet lots of people and build valuable relationships for the future - putting you ahead of the curve in the job market.

On top of all this, you’ll also finish your course with a qualification that’s nationally recognised and accepted by education providers and businesses across the country.

Who can do an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are available to anyone aged 16 or over - there isn’t an upper age limit, so you can complete an apprenticeship at any stage of life.

The only other criteria is that you can’t already be in education, either full-time or part-time, but you can have a previous qualification, like a degree.

There are different levels of apprenticeships, depending on what level of qualification you already have before starting. The equivalent education levels are:

Level 2 - GCSE
Level 3 - A level
Level 4, 5, 6 and 7 - Foundation degree and above
Level 6 and 7 - Bachelor’s or master’s degree
